Description

Indulge in this flavor-packed ground beef taco recipe. Featuring simple ingredients and easy preparation, this taco dish is perfect for family dinners or gatherings with friends. Enjoy the delightful mix of spices, a tender meat filling, and a selection of fresh toppings.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (preferably lean)

1 tablespoon olive oil (if needed)

1 small onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons homemade taco seasoning or store-bought

2/3 cup water

8 taco shells (soft or hard shell preferred)

Fresh toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, avocado, and salsa

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté until transparent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and continue cooking for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5–7 minutes until browned.
  4. Drain excess fat if necessary and return the skillet to medium heat.
  5. Sprinkle taco seasoning over the meat. Stir well to combine, then add water. Simmer until the mixture thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Warm taco shells in the oven for 3-4 minutes if using hard shells or prepare soft tortillas by wrapping them in a damp towel and microwaving for about 30 seconds.
  7. Scoop a generous portion of the seasoned ground beef into each taco shell.
  8. Top with your choice of shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, grated cheese, avocado, and salsa. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Tips and Notes:

  1. Feel free to customize toppings according to dietary preferences. Sliced jalapeños or diced onions can add a lovely punch of flavor.
  2. To make ahead, cook the ground beef mixture and store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving. Consider serving your tacos with a side of beans or Mexican-style rice for an even heartier meal.
  3. Disclaimer: Please consult with a dietary expert or physician before making significant changes to your diet, especially if you have health conditions.
